Soan’s Story: A Journey of Compassion and Resilience

Soan is the sponsored child of UK sponsors Tony and Jackie, whose unwavering support over the last 2 decades has profoundly shaped his journey.  Tony and Jackie started sponsoring Soan when he was 3 in 2003. Thanks to their steadfast sponsorship for over two decades, Soan has defied every challenge posed by his disabilities, successfully completing his Intermediate level this year and now preparing to take the next step toward graduation.

Soan's story – as recounted by Dr. Madan Sarkar

Soan was born in a very poor family in a rural setting near Sonarpur, India. Born to father Khairul and mother Sabera, Soan was completely disabled from birth, unable to sit, stand, or walk due to his dysfunctional nervous system.

The parents took the newborn boy to IIMC's head, Dr. Sujit Brahmachari, and his wife, Barnali Brahmachari, for medical treatment and care. Seeing the pitiable condition of Soan's parents, the doctor couple took on the responsibility of the entire family, including Soan, through their organization (IIMC).

For almost last two decades, Soan has been growing up with great love, care and attention of IIMC volunteers. His family has also been living a healthy and normal life. All thanks to IIMC's love, affection, and financial support to Soan and his family.

Soan's family is incredibly grateful for IIMC's support, and in return, they have dedicated themselves as volunteers to the organization. It's impossible to describe the kind of human bonding/ relationship that IIMC has with Soan's family and  thousands of such other marginalized families  without seeing it with your own eyes.

The close relationship and the way IIMC has helped them find a way to live a healthy and respectable normal life from a difficult social and economic environment is truly remarkable/unbelievable in today's market world where human relations are also being governed by give-and-take relations for profit.

The work of IIMC is a testament to the power of compassion and dedication. Despite being an organization with limited resources, IIMC has achieved incredible popularity among its people in its working area. Today's leaders and ministers could learn from IIMC's experience and approach to welfare to the needy. While their

focus is on  private market solutions devoid of human values, IIMC's work shows that a different humanitarian path is possible.

IIMC's work is not just about providing support; it is about creating a sense of community bonding and belongingness. The organization's approach is holistic, addressing the physical, emotional, and social needs of its beneficiaries. It is an inspiring example of what can be achieved when people come together to make a difference.
