IIMC (UK) Report
March
2021
Besides COVID-19 the People of West Bengal has to battle Cyclone Yos!
Here are some pictures of how the people, mostly IIMC mothers and children, in remote coastal areas cope with the cyclone Yos. The cyclone was building up its attack since 24 May, 2021 and now it has just struck.
Thinking in advance, Dr. Sujit made arrangements of sheltering the most vulnerable people by turning all schools into cyclone shelters near the coastal area. In this regard, Dhaki Sub-Centre has taken the major step. Now, we will have to wait to find the extend of damage would be done by the cyclone.

Here is a short note from Dr Sujit:

We are in Kolkata, passing through a COVID - Tsunami. It is hard period but fortunately the number of COVID infection is coming down. Unfortunately, however, Oceanic Cyclone 'Yos' has smashed and flown over our Coasts. This COVID and cyclone bilateral forceps attack has left our poor people completely confused and helpless.
We, IIMC volunteers, are doing our best to support the affected people. Thank you all for keeping in contact and extending your continuous support. It is very inspirational.
Our lockdown has been extended another 15 days till 15th June. Some IIMC members have been infected by COVID19. Our IIMC Office attendance is irregular. Email and internet support is not always working.
Hope situation will improve soon.
Greetings from all of us in our IIMC Mission.
Dr. Sujit
